Our Peka Peka Trip

On Wednesday Room 7 along with Team Waru went on a trip to Peka Peka wetlands. We have been learning all about swamps in class and were all very excited to go. When we first arrived we met Steve who was from the council and was there to talk to us all about swamps. He talked about some birds that we may see while we were exploring like the Pukeko, Dabchick and the Australasian bittern. Do you know there are 4 Australasian bittern at Peka Peka and only 400 left in the whole world. Some of were lucky enough to see both the Dabchick and Pukeko while we were exploring which was awesome. All of us saw some black swans gliding along the water which was beautiful. After we explored we got to help Steve by planting flax plants in our groups. The ground was really hard which made it hard to dig but luckily we are strong and showed resilence and got them all planted. Some groups planted 7 plants! Here is a video of some photo's of our trip. We hope you enjoy it.
